URENIO

The URBAN AND REGIONAL INNOVATION Research Unit (URENIO) www.urenio.gr is a university laboratory for the promotion of research and supply of scientific and technological services. URENIO is affiliated to the Department of Urban and Regional Planning and Development in the Faculty of Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

URENIO's research focuses on territories that base their development on R&D, technological innovation, technology-intensive companies, technology infrastructure, and knowledge and information networks.

URENIO was responsible for the implementation of the Digital Research Centre, an action supported by DG REGIO, ERDF Innovative Actions for the region of Central Macedonia. DRC is an infrastructure which supports the cooperation between academic research units and businesses for the exploitation of R&D results, (www.vrc.gr). One of the components included in the DRC was the development of an On-line innovation support tool for IPR management. It is a learning platform for the collection of legislation and case-law for the creation, management and commercial exploitation of intellectual property.

URENIO contributes to developing the material for a training module with common operational guidelines and material related to European Union which will include professional content, theoretical background, case studies, reference material and technical documents. URENIO will take part in the testing phase of the material and contributes to valorisation of project's results at national and European level.
